Weekend Recap: Chanel Beauty House #WeLoveCoco
This weekend, I made a little trip to the Chanel Beauty House pop-up event here in Los Angeles and I now know what a kid feels like in a candy store. Here is a recap of my experience.
This was a special event curated by the French brand to promote the recent launch of @WeLoveCoco, a new Instagram account dedicated to user-generated content that incorporates Chanel beauty products. Beauty gurus and the like came out to play makeup in a Chanel-themed house that included virtual reality, color-themed cabanas, a pearl-filled bathtub and much more.
"Put on Red and Attack" was the official theme of the pop-up and of course, I never turn a challenge down. Upon entering the home, you're greeted with some goodies and guided to the garden area where MUAs were stationed in their cabanas, ready to give your lips a make-over (in nothing but Chanel, of course).
Lip candy wasn't the only thing sweet that you could find in the garden - a well-dressed gentleman was there to hand out fruit pops that had everyone smacking their lips. I'm just glad I got to eat my pop before doing my lips because let's just say, it would've been a mess!
After using the garden for a few photo-ops, we made our way into the "dining room," covered nearly floor to ceiling in red lacquer. What was on the menu for dinner? Lipstick, of course! Here, we were able to try on any product from the Chanel lipstick line and even use "coloring books" to test out shades without covering your hand. While I waited for a seat at the table, I had a little fun with the photo booth that takes pictures of your lips alone (although, I wish I had done that AFTER applying my lip, but whatevs lol).
After making my lips up in a striking red shade of matte-lipgloss, I was ready to take on the rest of the residence in true Chanel style. Next up was a "playroom" where we got to frolic with some products to create our own flat lays for social media and such. I think I got a few good ones.
We then made our way into the bedroom, which houses an actual bed swathed in pink neon light with a mirror on the ceiling that reads "Provoke in Pink" — designed expressly for taking selfies. And then into a "dressing room" which houses virtual reality makeup try-on stations: you sit down, look at a screen and the camera magically identifies your lips and allows you to "try on" any lip shade with the click of a button.
My favorite spot was the bathroom, decked out in coral Chanel-branded towels, a magic, high-tech, resettable mirror on which you can draw whatever you want using special "lipsticks." And an unforgettable bathtub filled with pearls, which is pretty much as Chanel as it gets.
The tour ended in what I call the "swing room" that contains the actual pink swing from Lily-Rose Depp's latest Chanel beauty ad and is the perfect setting for a good Boomerang.
Overall, I'd say this was a pretty fabulous event being as though I came out with a few new favorite lip shades. I had a good time with an old friend, doesn't get much better than that!
